Last week, I had the chance to meet Dr. Takaaki Kajita, 2015 Nobel
Prize Winner for the “discovery of atmospheric neutrino oscillations”.
He came to Harvard for just one day to give a special lecture.
Harvard Japan Society had the priviledge to have lunch with him, where
we discussed on frank terms. He was VERY nice and calm. Very
“nonbiri”. When I asked him, “What do you do when you face an
adversity?”, he answered, “Whenever something bad happens, I go to
sleep. If I wake up and still remember it, I go back to sleep. So, I
don’t really remember bad things. I’m a very optimisitic person.” And
when someone else asked him, “What is your hobby?”, he answered,
“Sleeping!” : )  He also said that he never had good grades in high
school, he never intended to become a scientist, and he just always
tried to live a calm life. He was SO nice!
